Our History

Director Nancy Engebretson is descended from Scandinavian farm roots.  Her great grandparents homesteaded in central Minnesota where her Great Grandfather Karelius was a notorious horseman in the 1800's.  She inherited her love and respect for animals and nature from both her Mother and Father.  As a child she could often be found caring for hurt animals and had her first 'rescue experience' with two abandoned puppies.  In her teens and twenties Nancy owned and rode Arabian horses. In 2010 she was rescued by the horses at Equine Outreach, Healing Reins and Horse Butte Equestrian Center.  Today she is the founder and director of EQuus RISINGNE at Wild Hearts Ranch.

"As an educator I am regularly evaluating how I do things and adjusting, based upon student and client needs and implementing based on new information. I always make room for reading books and attending classes and workshops. Equine Falicitated Learning is a relativiely new field and ongoing research and study offers more and more depth and insight every year.  I continue to bring the best to my classes, workshops and clients."
